Octominer X12 Ultra builds

Reported 8 GB and 10 GB
Octominer mining cases house, power and cool a row of GPUs, which makes them a ready-made frame for passive CMP 170HX cards. Two members describe builds in the X12 Ultra laid out two different ways; segmond's holds 12 cards (reala did not give his card count). Summary of their posts; see Discord for the photos.
Cards inside, everything else outside (segmond)
segmond runs 12 cards in an Octominer X12 Ultra with only the GPUs in the case: the case holds, powers and cools the cards, and the motherboard and everything else sit outside. He moved the case's fans outside and needs no extra fans; a script sets the fan speed from GPU temperature. He also built an earlier one in the smaller X8. Source: @reala7096, 2026-10-15

Everything inside (reala)
reala put the motherboard, the PSUs and the cards all in the same X12 Ultra; only the fans at the back and the CPU cooler's radiator are outside. He finds the case big enough for everything, and the stock 140 mm fans too loud to use. Source: @reala7096, 2026-10-15

He printed a basic front shroud for a 120 mm pull fan that fits the Octominer chassis and shared the file, plenum_other_side_1x120_50mm_v11.stl, after cibernox asked for a printed front shroud to add pull fans next to the push fans. Source: @cibernox, 2026-10-15

Mickey mounted his cards in an Octominer with "insane airflow" and no longer worries about cooling the back plates. Source: @gpmickey, 2026-10-20
