No full CMP 170HX result on an R740 has been posted yet. A testing task for Gen2 and BAR1 on an R740 is a good candidate for the board.
BIOS settings that matter
On 14th-generation PowerEdge (R640, R740 and so on), the settings for the 64 GB BAR1 are under Integrated Devices: "Memory Mapped I/O above 4GB" and "Memory Mapped I/O Base". Dump the current values before changing anything:
racadm get BIOS.IntegratedDevices
racadm get BIOS.SysProfileSettings
racadm get BIOS | grep -iE "mmio|4g|bar|sriov|slot|speed|link|bifurc|aspm"
Some Dell GPU configurations put a PCIe switch between the slot and the CPU; the switch's windows must grow too. Full procedure: Server BIOS setup. Source: @darkmaniac7, 2026-10-29 (lab notes)
Known issues
chonsworth suspects his R740 system board is not powering one of the GPU power plugs and asked for schematics or boardviews; no answer was posted. Source: @chonsworth, 2026-10-11
