Reported 10 GB

The 10 GB card is the CMP 170HX with PCI ID 10de:2082 and Samsung HBM2e. It has less memory than the 8 GB card after unlock, but its RIR fuse records are unused, which opens a path to most of a full GA100: up to 128 SMs, PCIe Gen3 and more. Plan on 40 GB of memory; 48 GB is a lottery. Not sure which card you have? See Which card do I have. New owner? Start with Start here#10gb.

At a glance

Stock cmpunlocker only After the RIR burn and driver work

SMs 70 74 up to 128, per card (112, 122 and 128 seen)
PCIe Gen1 x4 Gen2 x4 Gen3 (validated); Gen4 reported, not public; x16 needs the PCIe capacitor mod
ECC off on on
NVLink fused off none not public; needs a board-level mod
Windows no via the A100 40G / A800 40G driver same

Unlock results

Details and steps: Driver unlock and Unlocks.

Step 1: cmpunlocker (same as the 8 GB card)

With the cmpunlocker repo a 10 GB card gets 40 GB and a few extra SMs; unlocking the whole card takes real legwork. Source: @lycorascence, 2026-10-16 v0.5 gives +4 SMs and ECC on both variants. Source: @lia_oc, 2026-10-22 Driver 615.71.09 works with v0.5 on 10 GB cards. Source: @68x0, 2026-10-05

Step 2: the RIR burn

Warning This is permanent. It burns two of the card's 16 RIR fuse records and cannot be undone. Read RIR fuse burn first.

  • What it does: two RIR records, 0x0015 and 0x0095, clear the DISABLE_SW_OVERRIDE fuse (170hx-rir-tool writes them to RIR row 0 as the word 0x00950015); after that, SMs, PCIe speed and the sixth stack can be overridden in software. lxwx confirmed the record pair on a card on 2026-10-11. Source: @lxtend, 2026-10-11 In mrpandagod's words: a 2-record burn that allows the SM unlock, PCIe 3.0/4.0 and the sixth stack on some cards. Source: @djpandaman, 2026-10-12
  • Tool: 170hx-rir-tool (lxwx, MIT) burns the records and dumps the fuses; it needs iomem=relaxed and root. Source: repo github.com/lixiangwuxian/170hx-rir-tool by lixiangwuxian on GitHub, posted by @lxtend, 2026-10-10 It also needs the cmpunlocker-patched driver (or a 610+ driver) loaded. Source: @lycorascence, 2026-10-20 To unbind just the CMP without taking down other GPUs, write to that GPU's sysfs unbind path instead of unloading the driver. Source: @c133, 2026-10-18

  • Gen3 how-to (summary of lxwx's guide). For the 10 GB card (10de:2082) on open kernel modules 615.71.09. Steps, in short:
    1. Burn the two RIR records with 170hx-rir-tool so the software-override gate opens (see Step 2 above).
    2. Build the driver with the guide's patch: a probe-time fuse override that clears the two Gen3-disable fuses, plus a Gen3 register sequence run after GSP boot.
    3. Load it with options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords="RmForceEnableGen2=1;RMPcieLinkSpeed=0x5;CmpGen3=1" cmp_fuse_gen3=0.
    4. Train the link one step at a time, Gen1 to Gen2 to Gen3, with the guide's speed tool and script.
    5. Accept it only when lspci -vv shows LnkSta: Speed 8GT/s on both ends and a load test gives no Xid or AER errors.
cmp-pcie-speed 2 drops back to Gen2 at runtime. One Gen3 transition took a card off the bus until a power cycle. Only 10de:2082 was validated. Full guide: Gen3_unlock_en.md. Source: repo github.com/lixiangwuxian/170hx_tips by lixiangwuxian on GitHub, posted by @lxtend, 2026-10-19

Limits

  • Power. Reported Above 80 SMs the card hits its power cap and memory clocks drop. mrpandagod's 122 SM card throttled even with the core locked at 1,095 MHz. Source: @djpandaman, 2026-10-12 The cap triggers at 82 SMs, the moment an SM on a new GPC is enabled, and memory is forced to 1,100 MHz. Source: @djpandaman, 2026-10-13 Self-reported power becomes unreliable at that point (400 W+ readings on a 250 W VBIOS). Source: @colo2442, 2026-10-22 Contested Where it starts: xeax's (untested) sweep README treats power readings that jump above about 90 SMs as a telemetry artifact; Source: @xeax, 2026-10-22 mrpandagod answered the same day that the wattage issues start after 80 SMs, not 90, "just when you enable an SM on a disabled GPC". Source: @djpandaman, 2026-10-22 Warning On 2026-10-23 mrpandagod's 122-SM card spiked briefly to about 400 W during benchmarks with the power limit at 250 W; he was not sure whether the value was measured or calculated. xeax, who is weighing whether to fit the 6 MOSFETs missing from his card, fears overloading the VRM.
