View source for Other CMP cards and other NVIDIA GPUs

'''Scope.''' This page collects what the cmpunlocker Discord said about cards that are '''not''' the [[CMP 170HX]]: the other CMP mining models, the A100 that the 170HX is cut from, and unlock projects for GeForce and other NVIDIA cards. '''Nothing on this page is CMP 170HX unlock work unless the entry says so.''' The wiki is about the 170HX; these notes are here because the questions keep coming, and they are thinner than the 170HX pages. For the 170HX itself start at [[Which card do I have]], [[8 GB card]] and [[10 GB card]]. The Discord export behind this page starts on 2026-10-04, so older talk about these cards is missing.

=== CMP 90HX ===
The CMP model the Discord talks about most after the 170HX. It is a 10 GB GDDR6X card and a different chip from the 10 GB 170HX; do not confuse the two (see [[Which card do I have#Cards that are not a normal 170HX]]). {{Source|handle=javicabrera_30495|date=2026-10-18|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1561394694305353729}}<br />{{Source|handle=xeax|date=2026-10-18|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1561397088959336542}}

{{Status|Reported}}<br />
The 90HX is built like an RTX 3080: "3080 which cmp90 is based on has 320W". {{Source|handle=emogop|date=2026-10-13|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1559482760140169229}} An unlocked 90HX is 3090-level compute but keeps its 10 GB. {{Source|handle=javicabrera_30495|date=2026-10-18|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1561394694305353729}} Another owner puts it at nearly the same performance as a 3080. ==== Power and VRAM cooling ====

The modified driver also lets you raise the power limit. The ceiling is 300 or 320 W, "apparently it's a hardware limit of that card". GPU temperatures are good; VRAM temperatures are not. {{Source|handle=emogop|date=2026-10-13|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1559479712479322173}}<br />{{Source|handle=emogop|date=2026-10-13|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1559484427518738514}}<br />{{Source|handle=emogop|date=2026-10-13|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1559482760140169229}} With the stock pads the VRAM easily goes past 100 C. @emogop replaced the thermal pads on the VRAM with a copper or aluminium plate, with no insulation layer, and calls the plate mod and the capacitor mod both a must on a 90HX. === CMP 100HX (100-210) ===
{{Status|Reported}}<br />
The CMP 100HX, also listed as the 100-210, is the mining card of the '''GV100''' (Volta) generation, like the V100 and the Titan V. It is not related to the 170HX's GA100. ==== The CMP100-210xFULLTENSORSxGEN3x1 unlock ====
{{Status|Contested}}
* @jma1753 owns 24 CMP 100-210 cards (<code><nowiki>10de:1d84</nowiki></code>) and used only the Tensor-only mode of mintoriakamoto/CMP100-210xFULLTENSORSxGEN3x1, without enabling Gen3 or flashing the VBIOS: "a great performance increase at low power", no issues after 5 days. The unlock is not persistent and is applied after each boot. {{Source|handle=jma1753|date=2026-10-09|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1558100513931657287|repo=https://github.com/mintoriakamoto/CMP100-210xFULLTENSORSxGEN3x1}}
* @68x0: the same developer claimed PCIe 5.0 on the 170HX in a cmpunlocker issue; "I wouldn't trust any of this AI slop from this person". What the repo itself says (read, not run): it is cmp100-unlock 1.1.1 (GPL-2.0), a boot-time, volatile Tensor-core and PCIe Gen3 unlock for the CMP 100-210 (GV100, 16 GB HBM2, <code><nowiki>10de:1d84</nowiki></code> or <code><nowiki>10de:1df4</nowiki></code>). Nothing is flashed; a reset or power loss locks the card again. It reports FP16 tensor throughput going from about 6 to 86.7 TFLOP/s and Gen3 at 0.806 / 0.845 GB/s per x1 lane (Gen1 0.194 / 0.214). It was tested only on two <code><nowiki>10de:1df4</nowiki></code> cards that a seller had flashed with a Tesla V100 VBIOS, on the proprietary 550.163.01 driver, and it packages earlier work by Brazzo978 (CmpUnlocker-100-210) and duggasco (CMP100-210). Read the script before running it. Not 170HX work. {{Source|repo=https://github.com/mintoriakamoto/CMP100-210xFULLTENSORSxGEN3x1}}

{{Status|Reported}} One lesson from that repo applies to 170HX hosts that also carry other NVIDIA cards: the <code><nowiki>RMPcieLinkSpeed=0x1</nowiki></code> registry dword is driver-wide and caps every NVIDIA GPU in the host, not only the CMP. {{Source|repo=https://github.com/mintoriakamoto/CMP100-210xFULLTENSORSxGEN3x1}} @ybryany, who runs a 170HX beside an RTX 4080 Super, left the global Gen2 dwords off for the same reason: they would have pulled the 4080 Super down to Gen2. {{Source|handle=ybryany|date=2026-10-14|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695289278566450/1559748433353384017}} See [[Kernel parameters and module options]].

== Tensor rate un-nerf on GeForce cards ==
Not 170HX work. GeForce cards run FP16 and BF16 tensor math with FP32 accumulate (and TF32) at half the rate of the matching workstation and data-center cards. The CMP unlock work showed how to lift that cap, and in October 2026 members ported it to GeForce cards. None of these tools touch a 170HX. Details and more numbers are on [[Tools#Related work on other NVIDIA cards]] and [[Cmpunlocker forks]].

Board card T-151 asks for a second card and the register name. {{Source|handle=peter643|date=2026-10-20|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1562209548130062348}}

'''Zagitta/gpu-unlock.''' {{Status|Reported}} A Linux kernel module (version 2.0.0) that removes the half-rate cap on FP16, BF16 and TF32 tensor math with FP32 accumulate on GeForce RTX 30 cards (stable) and RTX 40 and 20 cards (experimental). It loads from the initramfs before the stock NVIDIA driver, writes the tensor rate selectors and resets the card, so there is no patched driver, no VBIOS flash and nothing to redo after a driver update. The README's dense BF16 GEMM numbers: RTX 3060 12 GB 27 to 51 TFLOPS, 3080 10 GB 65 to 113, 3090 75 to 125, 3090 Ti 88 to 157, 4080 104 to 193, 4090 165 to 329 peak; decode, INT8, FP8 and games are unchanged. It is opt-in per card on the kernel command line, GPL-2.0 for the module. Its card table has no GA100 or CMP IDs, so CMP cards are refused. Not 170HX work. {{Source|handle=zagitta|date=2026-10-18|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1561189774834802709|repo=https://github.com/Zagitta/gpu-unlock}}<br />{{Source|handle=mrwojaketh|date=2026-10-24|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1563529790848372796|repo=https://github.com/Zagitta/gpu-unlock}}

'''JustAResearcher/gpu-unlock-ada.''' {{Status|Reported}} A fork of gpu-unlock (module version 1.1.1, GPL-2.0) that takes the same tensor un-nerf to the RTX 4090 and, behind per-chip opt-in flags, other Ada boards. The README reports FP16 to FP32-accumulate on a 4090 going from 165.6 to 331.6 TF/s instruction rate, while real cuBLAS GEMM gains are much smaller (FP16 +12 to 34 %, BF16 +16 to 20 % at some shapes), and a quantized MoE serving workload on a 48 GB 4090 showed no gain. It credits Zagitta/gpu-unlock, TOTORONG/AD103_win_unlocker and WildFlash1st/cmp90hx-unlock, and explicitly refuses data-center dies. Not 170HX work. {{Source|handle=petrikrohn_26497|date=2026-10-24|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1563578905913331836|repo=https://github.com/JustAResearcher/gpu-unlock-ada}}

'''unitypit71/rtx4070tisuper-tensor-unlock.''' {{Status|Reported}} A Korean-language brief and case study, with evidence files but no source code or binaries, for doubling FP16/BF16 to FP32-accumulate and TF32 throughput on one RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (AD103, 66 SMs) from a UEFI pre-boot app. Its Linux numbers: FP16/FP32-accumulate 94.1 to 184.8 TFLOPS, BF16 93.9 to 184.4, TF32 47.0 to 92.2, cuBLAS BF16 90.5 to 179.3; FP16 accumulate, INT8 and FFMA unchanged. The change is volatile (lost on power-off) and the repo says no universal 40-series tool is possible because every chip needs its own assets. It credits the CMP unlock work as prior art and builds on Zagitta/gpu-unlock. No license file. Not 170HX work. {{Source|handle=grapepepper|date=2026-10-20|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1562182781352550514|repo=https://github.com/unitypit71/rtx4070tisuper-tensor-unlock}}<br />{{Source|handle=matstatman|date=2026-10-20|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518695328008638516/1562201073068941455|repo=https://github.com/unitypit71/rtx4070tisuper-tensor-unlock}}

'''dartraiden/NVIDIA-patcher.''' {{Status|Reported}} A long-running English and Russian project that patches NVIDIA's stock drivers so mining cards bind as display and 3D-capable GPUs: P106, P104 and P102 cards, CMP 30HX, 40HX, 50HX, 70HX, 90HX and 170HX, and a few odd SKUs. On Linux a script patches the blocked-device table in the official <code><nowiki>.run</nowiki></code> installer; on Windows the INF is rewritten and the driver re-signed (self-patching needs Windows test mode, which breaks many anti-cheat systems; the author's prebuilt releases do not). Its NVENC flavour crashes apps on cards without a hardware encoder, which includes the 170HX. No license file. It lists both 170HX device IDs, but it is '''not an unlock''': it does not touch FP32, memory, SMs or the PCIe generation, and on Linux it patches the proprietary module, so it is an alternative to cmpunlocker for graphics use, not a companion. Not 170HX unlock work. {{Source|handle=xeax|date=2026-10-27|link=https://discord.com/channels/1518634379604136178/1518692084729511967/1564777747144769697|repo=https://github.com/dartraiden/NVIDIA-patcher}} See also [[Known bad combinations]].
